Who are we?

Borderlands Artists' are a lively group of professional artists from the borders of Surrey, Sussex, and Hampshire. We meet monthly for a variety of activities, and our members include painters, sculptors, printmakers, installation artists, applied artists and photographers.

What are our aims?

To provide our members with support and continuing professional development through work discussion, talks, art-related outings and social meetings; and to promote contemporary art within our region through regular exhibitions. We have exhibited throughout the area including Farnham, Basingstoke, Winchester, Guildford, Haslemere, Bracknell and Walton-on-Thames.

What do our members do?

As well as being artists our members have a range of professional expertise in related fields and industries. Some of us are regularly involved in adult education or work with schools. Many of us open our studios to the general public during Open Studios weeks.

How are we organised?

We have a Constitution and an elected Committee responsible for managing our programme of activities and exhibitions. However all members contribute with ideas, presentations, and exhibition-related tasks.

How do we fund our organisation?

Borderlands has a small subscription fee (£35), so there are charges for exhibiting and training opportunities. Non-members are welcome at our meetings for a nominal fee of £3.

How are members selected?

We welcome new members! However we do have a selection process in order to preserve the ethos of the group, which has maintained a strong and cohesive bond over many years. We ask prospective new members to first attend one of our meetings, and then to send some images of their work to the committee for consideration.
